The unique location, geography and volcanic soil surrounding the estate has resulted in the sought after color, flavors and aromas found only in our wines. Grown at 2,000 feet with steep hillsides allows for exceptional drainage and sun exposure, in correlation with our Mediterranean microclimate results in perfect growing and ripening conditions. Because of new local government rules, Malibu Rocky Oaks vineyard, estate and style of wine can never be replicated.

Great wines need perfectly poor soil, just the right amount of sunlight, and above all, a great view. The land of Black Ridge Vineyards was planted with grapes as early as the mid-nineteenth century during the California wine boom.

Black Ridge boasts five generations of wine making, with one sip of Black Ridge, it is evident that the quality been perfected and the technique passed down a long lineage of natural born winemakers. Black Ridge has product in both Lodi California and the world famous Napa Valley California.

Whether you prefer a richly flavored, well-balanced white wine, a medium bodied red with smooth tannins, or a crisp blush wine, it’s waiting for you at Black Ridge.

Black Ridge is very fruit forward on the pallet, and with Black Ridge, consistency of product has been perfected over five generations, so you can be confident the product is always up to standards.

McPrice “Mac” Myers became a complete food and wine geek in his early twenties. This led him to frequent sojourns to the Central Coast, where he became a quick study of the burgeoning wine scene. Mac’s first vintage was 2002. His enthusiasm for the local vineyards in Paso Robles and Santa Barbara County was matched only by the lure of the Rhone Valley. Mac’s own wines received overnight praise from the wine press-at-large. With a keen eye on the future of California vineyards and a respectful nod to the Old World, Mac continues to impress as one of the most progressive and even-handed winemakers on the Central Coast.

McPrice Myers also work with vineyards around Paso to acquire the best grapes from the region. These vineyards include Denner, Larner, Les Galets, Luna Matta, and Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard.

Nalle Winery is about as "family" as it gets. Son Andrew runs the joint, while father and mother Doug and Lee Nalle give wisdom from 31 years of winery experience. Younger son Sam, a scientist in San Francisco, gives encouragement and support. Then there's our bevy of friends who magically appear at the right moment to lend a hand. Steve Edgar, from Arizona, still shows up for crush, and has, since 1991.

The winery and Nalle home rest on land that has been in Lee's family, the Henderlongs, since 1927. Her cousins, the Saini family, run the vineyard. In addition to the estate Zinfandel, Carignane, Cabernet and Merlot vineyard, two other local growers, Bernier Farms and Hopkins River Ranch, provide Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a smile and a handshake.
